Navigating and Organizing the Board

As your project grows, the kanban board accumulates cards across multiple columns. Atelier provides tools to filter what you see, search for specific cards, reorder tasks to set priorities, and understand how cards relate to each other. Use these features to keep your board manageable and find information quickly.

  • Atelier extension installed with the kanban board accessible
  • At least a few cards on the board (todos, plans, or tasks)
  1. Open the Atelier kanban board.

  2. Locate the filter options in the toolbar at the top of the board.

  3. Click the Type filter to show only specific card types.

You can filter by Todo, Plan, or Task. This is useful when you want to focus on just your backlog ideas, see only high-level plans, or review individual tasks without distraction.

  4. Select a filter option.

The board updates immediately to show only cards matching your selection. Cards that don’t match are hidden but not deleted.

  5. Clear the filter to show all cards again.

Click the filter option a second time or select an “All” option to reset the view.

  1. Locate a task card you want to reposition within its column.

Tasks within the Planning column can be reordered to match your preferred order.

  2. Click and drag the task card to a new position within the same column.

  3. Release the card at the desired location.

The card order is preserved for your view. Placing higher-priority tasks at the top of the column helps you see what to work on first.

  1. Press + F (macOS) or Ctrl + F (Windows/Linux) while the kanban board is focused.

A search bar appears at the top of the board.

  2. Type keywords to filter the board.

As you type, the board filters down to show only cards matching your keywords. Cards that don’t match are hidden but not deleted.

  3. Press Esc to exit search and return to the full view of the board.

  1. Click on a card to open the spec editor.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the spec editor and click to expand the Connections section.

The connections section shows all relationships for the selected card — for plans, you’ll see the tasks that implement it; for tasks, you’ll see which plan they belong to and any blocking dependencies.

  3. Click on any connected card to navigate directly to it.

You now know how to filter the board, search for specific cards, prioritize work by reordering tasks, and understand how cards relate to each other. These tools help you stay oriented as your project grows and multiple plans and tasks accumulate on the board.
